After two months without a newsletter, you might be wondering if anything is happening with the Dragons in our Midst series. The answer is Yes!

Dragons in our Midst – The movie?

On March 25, I signed what is called a "theatrical rights agreement” for the series.

A movie production company, Visual 7 Films in California, has purchased the rights to make one or more movies from the Dragons in our Midst series. They will work to get the backing and cooperation necessary to make the movie(s).

This doesn’t mean that the movie(s) will necessarily be made. Many books have movie rights purchased without the movies ever being made. The producer might be unable to get financial or distribution backing. Without that backing, they can't make the movie(s).

So, there is still a lot of work to be done. The first huge step has been made, and God has answered our prayers big time. Let's now pray for the next step.

As progress is made, I will be reporting it in upcoming newsletters and my message forum.

New Book Update – A DIOM prequel, the cover uncovered

Coming in September, Eye of the Oracle.

Eye of the Oracle is the first in the Oracles of Fire series, a set of four books for young adults. This series inspires young people to pursue faith, courage, and love and to dig deep within to find their God-given strengths, no matter how difficult the circumstances.

This book is a prequel to the Dragon in our Midst series (DIOM), covering the events that led up to Raising Dragons, the first DIOM book. The second book in Oracles of Fire, tentatively planned for a June 2007 release, will pick up where Tears of a Dragon, the fourth book in DIOM, left off. Therefore, the second, third, and fourth books in Oracles of Fire will be sequels to DIOM.

This book is designed to be read after the DIOM series and will launch a new adventure that continues through the next three books. Readers familiar with DIOM will recognize characters from that series and will be introduced to new ones as well. Readers unfamiliar with DIOM will have no trouble following this new story, because no knowledge of DIOM will be required.

Here are the tentative titles for Oracles of Fire:

Eye of the Oracle - September 2006

Enoch's Ghost - June 2007

Last of the Nephilim - TBA

The Bones of Makaidos - TBA

Best seller again!

Raising Dragons and Tears of a Dragon hit the Christian Bookseller Association best-seller list again in February, and the four books in the series were the top four sellers for AMG Publishers in 2005. That’s a great achievement for the fourth book, because it came out in November. For it to be the year’s fourth bestseller for the publisher after only two months of sales is fantastic!

Price change

AMG Publishers has announced an increase in the list price for the Dragons in our Midst books. They were $12.99, but as of February the list price went up to $14.99.

But you can still get books at a great price. Booksellers who have an inventory from before the price increase have some great deals, especially Christianbook.com. You can get the entire set for $29.96!! With the new list price, the retail value for all four is $59.96, so that’s half price! Here’s the link for that deal:

I hope to finish the new book sometime in May and work on a couple of other projects during the summer. Then, when Eye of the Oracle comes out, I will go into a heavy promotional season. I am a mom of 6 living overseas as a missionary. I had someone write and ask if they could get anything for our kids and books are always a great item. I was searching ChristianBook.com for books for my 11 year old son hoping to find something that he would enjoy but would also be good.
